    • Services for Bettie Myrtle Dickerson, 74, of San Augustine County, will be in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Dickerson Cemetery in San Augustine County.

      Mrs. Dickerson passed away at The Summit in San Augustine, Texas. She was born to parents Harris Joseph Smith and Anna Belle (Crouch) Smith and was a lifelong area resident. Bettie helped many area residents and families while working as an expanded services social worker with Tri-County Community Action Inc. Bettie actively served in the churches of the area as a member, pastor's wife, pianist and other capacities and was also a vital part of the Central Missionary Baptist Association.

      Her survivors include her loving husband, Bro. William "Bo" Dickerson; two brothers, Robert Azriel Smith and wife Jeanette and Paul Joseph Smith and wife Nita; daughter, Karen Roxanne Dickerson Mills and her husband Alan Mills; a grandson, Shane Mills III; two granddaughters, Sarrina Jazmine Renee' Mills and Victoria Cheyanne Mills Humphrey and her husband Clayton Humphrey; a great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Humphrey; and a special daughter, Betsy Ross. During her time on this earth she raised or helped raise many of her nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris Joseph and Anna Belle Smith, along with three of her children; two brothers; her only sister; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
