  Notes	In 1860, he was living in Rusk County, Texas, with two of his younger brothers, and his Uncle, W P Roberts. His occupation was farmer. In 1870, he was living in Kaufman County, Texas, and listed as a Grocer. in 1880, he was still living in Kaufman County, a widower, and working as a dentist. (Indexed as Stephenson, with parents born in Ark and Ga?)

  	FamilySearch.com marriage records show date of marriage as 6 Dec 1837, after the birth of their twin sons in March 1837. A transcription of family bible records on FindAGrave instead has the marriage as June 21, 1836. Sabine County, Texas Affidavit of B. R. Payne, sworn on August 25, 1927 and witnessed by Edna Whitehead, Notary Public. B. R. Payne was age 74 at that time, and a livelong resident of Sabine County, living about two miles south of Geneva. He was also a grandson of William Roberts, He showed that the eldest of four children born to William and Sarah Roberts was "Talitha Stevenson, who married James Stevenson." This couple was not located in the 1850 Sabine County, Texas census, and I have not yet located them on a search via Ancestry.com. They may have both died relatively young, as in 1860, three of their sons were living in Rusk County, Texas, with their uncle W. P. Roberts and his young son sharing their household. Per the Payne affidavit, Talitha was married only once, and at her death [in 1860] left seven children as follows: 1) W. R. Stevenson, now dead. 2) J. E. Stevenson who died in 1904 or 1905, leaving four children: a) S.A. Stevenson b) Winter E. Stevenson c) J.E. Stevenson, Jr. d) Stella Stevenson 3) J. D. Stevenson, who died in 1908, leaving five children: a) Wm. E. Stevenson b) H. F. Stevenson c) C. C. Stevenson d) R. E. Stevenson...wife of Conrad PATTON. e) J. P. Stevenson, Muskogee, Okla. 4) W. O. Stevenson, who died in 1895, leaving six children. a) May (Stevenson) Shelton b) Walter H. Stevenson c) Margaret Elizabethe (Stevenson) Worsham d) Richard E. Stevenson e) Condie Stevenson f) Genie Stevenson 5) W. C. Stevenson, who died in 1890, leaving the following children a) Carl M. Stevenson b) Walker W. Stevenson 6) T. T. Stevenson, Mountain View, California 7) J.B. Stevenson, Strattford, Calif. The above constitute the only heirs of Talitha Stevenson, who died in 1860. However, on the FindAGrave memorial page for Talitha's husban, Rev. James Porter Stevenson, a listing of 12 children is instead shown, based on pages copied from the Stevenson family Bible and the Baird family bible, contributed to FindAGrave by Cameron-Ashley Heath. It is likely several of these children died young, as not found on the 1850 or 1860 census. The list from the Bible was transcribed as follows: Rev. James Porter Stevenson had a total of 15 children. Tabitha Cumi Roberts, born Feb. 15, 1815. They married on June 21, 1836. Rev. James P. and Tabitha Cumi Roberts had 12 Children. Tabitha Stevenson died July 13, 1860. Twins: #1.John Emory & #2.
