At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, she was living with Jared Bortner and his wife, her niece, Mary Magdelena (Cramer) Bortner, in Codorus township. She was shown as an "old maid", age 75.

At the time of the 1860 and 1870 Federal census, she was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Julia Ann and Benjamin Hildebrand in Codorus, York County, PA. In 1860 she was listed as Mary Cramer, age 66, Widow, and born in Pennsylvania. In 1870 she was again shown as Mary Cramer, but her age was shown as 87, apparently in error.

Anna married Johann Lorentz "Laurence" Cramer about 1823 in York County, Pennsylvania. Johann (son of Johann Helfer Cramer and Henrietta Sophia Neudig) was born on 10 Aug 1798 in York County, Pennsylvania; was christened on 2 Nov 1798 in Saint Jacobs (Stone) Union Church, Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania; died on 13 Oct 1840 in York County, Pennsylvania; was buried in Saint Jacobs (Stone Church Cemetery), Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Dean Cramer notes that her Baptismal sponsors were Christian Kleindienst & Wife, & the minister was a Mr. Melsheimer. Clarence Cramer stated that he possessed the orignal Baptismal Certificates of Eve Lehman, given to him by Capitola Cramer, and that these showed that Eva was born ot Anthony and Catharina Emigh Lehman.

Clarence Cramer writes (p. 59) that "The Pension Papers of Anthony Lehman, Revolutionary War Pension claim W-3430, states that in 1841, Henry Cramer of York County, Pennsylania, stated that he married a daughter of Anthony Lehman and that she was deceased, but did not give her name"

Edith Beard Cannon, in the "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County, Vol. XXIX, pp. 1-72, Evidence of the Cramer Families of York before the year 1850 REVISED" published 1943, cited the following newspaper record of Eva's death:

Ap 22, 1833. Died- Mrs. Eve, wife of Henry Craumer, of Codorus Township, aged 37.

Eva married Henrich "Henry" Cramer about 1812. Henrich (son of Johann Helfer Cramer and Henrietta Sophia Neudig) was born on 18 Oct 1795 in York County, Pennsylvania; died on 12 Aug 1865 in York County, Pennsylvania; was buried in Saint Jacobs (Stone Church Cemetery), Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania. "Joseph L. Cramer, also a native of York county, Pennsylvania, and was crippled in 1861, being unable to perform manual labor. He was one of nine children, six sons and three daughters. He learned the trade of a shoemaker, and in the fall of 1856 came to Huntington county, Indiana, settling on a farm near the village of Pleasant Plain, and there plied his craft. It was not long before he gained an enviable reputation for his skill and the thoroughness of his work, and the entire neighborhood came to him when they wanted shoes made. He would take the leather and fashion a boot or shoe from the very first step to its completion, ready for the wearer. He loved children, and it did not take the little folks long to find out that he was their friend. His shop was their headquarters and he never failed to show his appreciation of them and a deep interest in all the little affairs which make up the world of childhood, and he was a prime favorite among all the children."

The 1860 census shows that a Jessee L Cramer, age 28 and born in Pennsylvania, was a boarder in Wabash County, Indiana, and working as a house carpenter.

U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles on Ancestry.com shows that Jesse L. Cramer, of Huntington County, Indiana, enlisted on 27 Jan 1865 as a Private in Company B, Indiana 153rd Infantry Regiment on 27 Jan 1865, and mustered out on 4 Sep 1865 at Louisville, KY. This is confirmed by a 1901 biography of his nephew, posted online at the Ancestry.com Message Board for Huntington County, Indiana, notes that he took part in the late rebellion (Civil War), and "served throughout the war."

Said to have married first Anna Maria Koller and second Catherine Stump. Anna Maria died. In November 1850, Israel was enumerated in Eden Township, Seneca County, Ohio with the family of Jesse and Julian COLER....perhaps these were his former in-laws. He is not listed with a wife, so presumably Anna Maria died before the date, probably in or after June 1850 when their daughter Anna Maria Cramer died.

Military Marker inscribed: Israil L. Cramer, First Lt Co B 57 Regt Ohio Inf, Civil War, December 22, 1900

Israel married Catherine Stump (b. 7 Aug 1831 in Little York, PA (sic), d. 9 Oct 1896 in Fostoria, Ohio) on 21 Mar 1854 in Little York, PA (??? or Ohio). It was a second marriage for both. Israel's first wife died in childbirth in Ohio. Israel had moved west to Fostoria, Ohio in the late 1840s, joined the 57th Ohio Volunteers when the unit was created in 1861. He mustered out in 1865 with only one furlough of a month in early 1864. Israel's unit saw action with Sherman's army in the Civil War. He served as a Quartermaster Sergeant before being promoted to Bugler First Lieutenant which is the rank he held when mustering out. After the war, Israel's occupation was a Carpenter in Fostoria according to the 1880 Census. The Danville Veteran's home documents state he had "gray eyes and fair hair."

OLIVER H. CRAMER, 83, SUCCOMBS TO HEART ATTACK NEAR LINEBORO

LINEBORO, Md. ? A heart attack, suffered as he was preparing to retire, proved fatal to Oliver H. Cramer at 10 o'clock this evening at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Shaffer, near here. He was 83 years old.
Coroner L. U. Zech was notified and will issue the death certificate tomorrow. Mr. Cramer had been suffering from a heart condition for some time, although he had been able to be about. Today he and the rest of the family had entertained some guests. Shortly after they left this evening he began preparations to retire when he was suddenly stricken. Dr. W. P. McKnight, Glenville, was summoned to the home, but death occurred before he arrived.

Mr. and Mrs. Cramer had been making their home with the son-in-law and daughter for the past two years. Previously they resided in Glen Rock where Mr. Cramer conducted a grocery and butcher business. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Stone Church, the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company and the Fireman's Relief Association.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Krebs Cramer; the daughter with whom he resided; a foster son, Levi W. Bubb, Baltimore, and two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Dietz, York, and Mrs. Rebecca Rohrbaugh, Millers, Md.

The funeral will be held Wednesday with brief services at the Shaffer home at 1:30 p.m. and further services at Stone Church. Rev. K. S. Ehrhart, Lutheran pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Funeral Director G. W. Geiple and Son, Glen Rock, have charge of arrangements.

Your pastor assisted Rev. W. H. Ehrhart in the funeral services of Chester H. Cramer who died in the hospital at York on September 14, 1922, as the result of injuries sustained by an automobile about six weeks previously.

Mr. Cramer was born April 22, 1859, and was aged 63 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, September 16, at the house and the Stone Church. Burial in the new cemetery.

There are left to mourn Mr. Cramer's death: his widow, ten children, and twenty-one grandchildren.

William A. Cramer, one of the progressive farmers of Jefferson township, Huntington county, Indiana, was born in York county, Pennsylvania, July 5, 1854. The Cramers are a fighting family, the great-grandfather being a soldier in the Revolution and three uncles taking part in the late Rebellion....

William Cramer was the second child and only son, and remained on the farm with his father until the death of the latter, in fact has always been a resident of this farm. He had been taught in his childhood to save his money and not spend it foolishly, and he still has two hundred cents which he had thus saved up to his tenth year. When he began to do for himself his supply of clothing was very meager, and his early training kept him from indulging in extravagant purchases or unwise investments. He secured employment by the month, receiving from twenty to twenty-six dollars for his work, and by the time he was twenty-three years of age he had saved one thousand dollars.

About this time, in 1877, he led to the altar Miss Catherine Cross, invested his thousand dollars in land, settled down to farming and stock raising, and has now two hundred and forty-four acres, all under cultivation. Mrs. Cramer is a lady of much kindness of heart and many excellent characteristics. Her parents were of German descent and came to Huntington county, Indiana, at an early day, moving from Fairfield county, Ohio.

Mr. Cramer continued to buy land, going in debt for it, but always paying his notes before they fell due and keeping his credit at the highest point. He was also largely interested in stock raising, his especial hobby being hogs. He is much interested in sheep and raises the famous Shropshire breed. He has also raised some cattle, but his interest centers principally in hogs as it is from them he received the greater part of his income. Fully two-thirds of the money and land saved by him represents the price he has received from the sale of hogs. He clears from four hundred to five hundred dollars per year on them. He has cleared over fifty acres of land and is considered one of the finest and most capable farmers in Jefferson township. He has leased one hundred and ten acres of his land to the Fearless Oil Company, at an annual rental of one hundred and twenty dollars, has three wells in operation, and his royalty from these is ten dollars a month. The company is anxious to lease the balance of his land. The children of Mr. Cramer are three in number, viz.: Clinton, who was born June 6, 1881; Joseph L., born August 23, 1882; and Alverdie, born April 3, 1884.

Mr. Cramer is not member of any religious organization, but leans toward the German Reformed church and is upright and honorable in all walks of life. He has been an enthusiastic Republican up to the late presidential election (1900), when he gave his vote to the Democratic nominee. He is fond of hunting and fishing and usually makes two or three trips each year to Webster lake and other places, where the fishing is superb, bringing back a nice string of the finny tribe as a trophy of his success. He is also a good shot and considered a very successful nimrod.

His mother, Maria (Brenaman) Cramer, was born in York county, Pennsylvania, where she was reared to womanhood and also married. Her people coming direct from Germany and locating in York county, Pennsylvania, where her father died, the mother passing away in Indiana.

Mrs. Cramer, since the death of her husband, sold out her interests and has since loaned her money, realizing several hundred dollars therefrom. She still remains a widow, refusing many proposals of marriage since her husband's demise.

FindAGrave notes that In 1860, he was a railroad employee living in Glen Rock, however he is not indexed in Glen Rock, PA in 1860 by Ancestry.com. Might he actually have been the Martin Cramer, age 17 and born in Pennsylvania, who can be found on the 1860 census in Manhiem, York County, PA in the home of Jacob and Elizabeth Lammot. Could Solomon Cramer's wife Elizabeth have remarried instead of dying young? Martin is simply listed as a boarder in the home. He is the oldest of the children in the home, the Lammot children being Calvin, 15, Elizabeth, 12, Cornelius, 10 and Ellen age 6 months. Dean Cramer and Rosalie Sommer both show that Martin H. Cramer was a son of Solomon Cramer and Elizabeth La Motte. Perhaps that was her married name, and not maiden name.

Notes:

May have married a Mr. Tracy, and been listed as Sennie Tracy, age 30, mother of Irvin and Henry, at the time of the 1880 census. This family was living in the Baltimore boarding house run by Elias and Maryann, and Sennie was listed as their daughter.
