    Pfc. Curtis Burl White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis White of Pineland, was stationed with the U. S. Army - 270 Signal Company in Phi Bai, Vietnam.

    Obituary

    Curtis Burl White, 72, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at his home on Highway 184.

    Burl was born in Hemphill, Texas on March 23, 1949 to William Curtis White and Freddie Miller White. After attending West Sabine High School, he entered the United States Army where he served in Vietnam in 1969. After his military service, he began working for Temple-Inland in Pineland where he worked as a saw filer until his retirement after 30 plus years.

    Burl enjoyed hunting and he loved spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Burl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Waldrop White; sons, Kurtis White and wife, Tracy, of Pine Park Community and Brandon White and wife, Hannah, of Bronson; twin brother, Earl White of Hemphill; sister, Johnnie Sue Phillips and husband, Glenn, of Pine Park; grandchildren, Terra White and husband, Bryan Godeaux, Chelsi Woods and husband, Clayton Woods, Tyler White, BreeAnn White, Andrew Russell, and Bailee White; and great grandchildren, Prestin White, Lilly Godeaux, Colston Woods, and Cullen Woods.

    He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Freddie White; brother, Bobby White and wife, Jean; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann White.

    Military graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. David Ebarb officiating.

    Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Jones, Rocky White, Bradley White, Corey Ross, Logan Ermias, Curtis James White, Dustin White and Chris Jones. Providing military honors are the Sabine County Honor Guard.

    In lieu of flowers, it is the family's request that donations be made instead to Starr Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
