    Notes:

David Edward Martin was born June 11, 1960 and joined the presence of our Lord November 13, 2016. David was the fifth child of the late Emile E. Martin III and Amanda Zahn Martin. In addition to his mother, he is survived by four brothers and one sister, Edward Zahn Martin (Cynthia), Johnette L. Martin, Jay Emile Martin, Robert Dale Martin (Mary) and Gregory Frank Martin, and six nieces and nephews; Jean Paul, Jonathan (Sandy), Elizabeth, Justen, Jeremy, and Emily. His family was the center of his world, and enjoyed every family social and outing including the company of his parents, brothers and sister, sisters-in-law, Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and their spouses and children. David was a lifetime student of St. Michael's Special School, and worked in the Joy Center from which he retired in 2014 and the life that he loved. He cherished his classmates and his work, and deeply loved his mentor Sister M. Lillian McCormack and all of his dedicated teachers. Throughout his adult life, he served as an altar boy in the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. David was a gift to all who knew him, and was treasured as a beloved member of his community. His talent in this life was loving all who came into his path, including family, acquaintances and strangers. By the grace of God, he had two wonderful parents, a fruitful and happy life, and possessed an indomitable spirit. He had a sweet nature and gentle manner, was kind and caring of others, and loved animals, especially Gabriel, Leontine, and Sweetheart. He never uttered a discouraging word but found himself vexed and expressed anger only in understandable situations, when LSU or the Saints lost a game. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 8963 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse, LA. 70037, on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 12 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michael's Special School are appreciated, 1522 Chippewa St. New Orleans, LA 70130.
