    JOHN A. MASSOTH, Geneva Pioneer, Called by Death -- John A. Massoth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Massoth, was born at Crown Point, Ind., December 25, 1875. He passed away Tuesday, September 17, 1963, at Geneva at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 23 days. John came to Fillmore county with his parents in his youth. January 30, 1906, he was married to Julia KOAHLER at Geneva. They farmed south of Geneva until 1940, when they retired and moved to Geneva. To this union were born nine children, four of whom survive. They were Johnnie and Marguerite, twins, who passed away within a short time of their birth and who were the first burials in St. Joseph cemetery at Geneva; Ben, who passed away in 1951; Charles G. of Geneva; Linus of Manley; Regina, who died at the age of four months, Rose Elaine, who passed away at the age of five months; Donald of Olympia, Wash., and Dorothy (Mrs. Jack Watson) of Lincoln, who were twins. Other survivors include a brother, Peter Massoth of Geneva; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Ewart of Wheatland, Wyo., and Mrs. Homer Gard of Chugwater, Wyo., several grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Thursday, September 19 at St. Joseph church in Geneva with Rev. Paul ulenberg officiating. James Ewart of Denver, a nephew of the deceased and a professional singer, sang the liturgical high mass. Pallbearers were Thomas Braden, John Harrington, Frank J. Koahler, Frank M. Kohler, William Reinsch and Francis Weinerth. Interment was in St. Joseph cemetery at Geneva. Out-of-town relatives and friends coming for the services included: Don Massoth of Olympia, Wash., Mrs. Jack Watson of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Linus Massoth and son, Linus Jr. And family of Manley, Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Urwin of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Colbert of Lincoln, Mrs. Homer Gard and Francis of Chugwater, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewart of Wheatland, Wyo., and Mrs. Frank Steinacher of Lincoln.
