    Involved in the Christmas Day, 1883 shootout in McDade, Texas. Two of his brothers, Jack and Az Beatey were both killed, with Heywood and his brother-in-law, Robert Stephens, surviving.

    His Texas Death certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, showed him as a retired farmer, and the son of Walter Beaty and Elizabeth Gober. His last name was spelled as BEATY as well. He was listed as single, and the informant was Mrs. Pearl Baxter of 411 S. Henderson in Forth Worth. It was indicated that his address for the last 11 years had been 921 W. Connon, Ft. Worth, Parker County, Texas.
