He noted that Ennis's father, Bartlett McDaniel, came from Mississippi and settled in San Augustine County, Texas. Ennis lived and raised his children in this same area.

    Daniel "D.E." McDaniel

    Daniel "D.D." (sic) McDaniel, 67, of San Augustine died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, in San Augustine.

    McDaniel was born April 30, 1938, in Nacogdoches County as a son of the late Thelma (McKey) and Neal McDaniel, and was a roofer.

    Survivors: daughter, Tina RODRIGUEZ of San Augustine; sons, Carl McDaniel of Wills Point and Michael McDaniel of Terrell; mother Thelma McDaniel of San Augustine; brothers, Albert McDaniel and Doug McDaniel, both of San Augustine, Thurman McDaniel and David McDaniel, both of Broaddus, and Herman McDaniel of Conroe; sisters, Dessie McDaniel of San Augustine, Eunice JACKS of Broaddus, Mildred CASSIDY of Hemphill, Judy JACKOWICZ of Brooksville, Florida, and Nancy KUZMA of Weeki Wachee, Florida; and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Candi, Jackie, Lisa, Tanner, Ryan, Michael and Chelsea. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine with Bro. Cliff Durham of Rosevine Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at Chinquapin Cemetery in San Augustine County. Arrangements were handled by Wyman Roberts Funeral Directors in San Augustine.

    Eunice Lee Jacks, 74, of Broaddus, died Saturday afternoon in the Sabine County Hospital. She was born to Neal E. and Thelma McKey McDaniel in Nacogdoches County and has lived in San Augustine and Sabine Counties all her life. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Hollis Jacks, her son Hollis Gene Jacks and brother Daniel McDaniel.

    Eunice is survived by her grandsons; Eric Jacks and wife Vanessa of Broaddus, Zach Jacks and wife Katie of Bullard, Texas, her brothers; Albert McDaniel and wife Millie Jo of San Augustine County, Thurman McDaniel of Broaddus, Herman McDaniel and wife Mottie of Cut N Shoot, Texas, Douglas McDaniel and wife Cathy of San Augustine County, David McDaniel and wife Brenda of San Augustine, her sisters; Dessie McDaniel of San Augustine County, Millie Cassidy and husband Paul of Milam, Judy Jackowicz and husband Lee of Brooksville, FL., Nancy Kuzma and husband Tim of Brooksville, FL.

    Visitation will be from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Monday, September 14, 2015, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Graveside services will be at 11:00AM, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in the Jacks Cemetery, Pineland, Texas.

    Thurman "Donkey" McDaniel, age 71, of the Rebecca Community in Sabine County, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

    Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, in the Chinquapin Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas. Officiating will be Bro. Floyd Wright.

    "Donkey" was born to Thelma and Neal McDaniel on September 26, 1946, in Rusk County, Texas. He was employed as a Roofer in Construction Installation, and was a member of the Baptist Church.

    He is survived by, his wife, Patricia McDaniel of Chesapeake, Virginia; Sons, Richard McDaniel of Broaddus; John McDaniel and his wife, Jennifer of Bronson and Robert McDaniel and his wife, Carie of Chesapeake, Virginia. His beloved grandchildren, Andrew McDaniel, Robbie McDaniel, Justin McDaniel, Bailey McDaniel, Kurstee Roe, Dimitri Wilke and Zackary Wilke; his beloved great-grandchildren, Oddie, Ciara, Colby, Emily, Derek, and Azlynn.

    He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Neal and Thelma McDaniel; Brother, Daniel McDaniel and Sister, Eunice Jacks.

    Vickie Ann Simmons

    Vickie Ann McDaniel Simmons, 34, of San Augustine died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995, in Chireno.

    She was born Jan. 24, 1961, in Houston and had a been a longtime resident of San Augustine County. Mrs. Simmons, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, was a homemaker.

    Survivors: husband, Allen Niel Simmons of San Ausgustine; parents, Albert and Jo McDaniel of San Augustine; grandparents, Neal and Thelma McDaniel of San Augustine; a sister, Pam Evans of San Augustine; two brothers, Albert McDaniel and Carroll McDaniel, both of San Augustine.

    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Wyman Roberts Funeral Chapel in San Augustine with Bro. Frank Thompson officiating. Interment was at Redland Cemetery, San Augustine County.

    Funeral services for Hollis Gene Jacks, 45, of Bullard were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Jacks Cemetery in Pineland with Rev. Pat Jacks officiating. He died Sunday at his residence.

    Hollis Gene Jacks was born in Hemphill on May 16, 1959 to Hollis Elmore and Eunice McDaniel Jacks. He was a heavy equipment operator for Scull Timber Company.

    He is survived by his wife, Debbie CAMPBELL Jacks of Bullard, parents, Eunice and Hollis Jacks of Broaddus; grandmother Thelma McDANIEL of San Augustine, mother-in-law Hollisa HANN (HAHN) of Bullard; sons Zachery Jacks of Bullard, and Eric Wyane Jacks of Woodville, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

    Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill was in charge of arrangements.

    Note, the SABINE COUNTY REPORTER, Wednesday, September 1, 2004, had a very similiar obituary. It further noted he died following an illness, and that he had been a longtime Pineland resident before moving to Bullard 13 years previously.
