    Signa HALBERT Maxey

    Signa Halbert Maxey, 95, of Milam died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Trinity Missions Health Care Center in Diboll. Mrs. Maxey was born June 2, 1908 in Sabine County as a daughter of the late Bettie Biniga (CORDRAY) and Clyde Burnett HALBERT and had been a lifelong area resident. A homemaker, she was a member of the Geneva Unity Methodist Church and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Linda MAXEY of Diboll; two grandchildren, Tabitha HIPPLER of Bullard and Tracey COX of Plano; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bundy HALBERT of Pt. Neches and Jigs HALBERT of Milam; and four sisters, Mildred FREEMAN of Orange, Sible RUSSELL and Mary LOVE, both of Houston, and Bette RHODES of Victoria. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with Jeff Stull officiating. Interment followed at Joel HALBERT Cemetery near Milam.

    Burnett Harrison Halbert, 95, of Pt. Arthur died Monday, April 11, 2005 at his residence. Halbert was born Dec 21, 1909 in Milam as a son of the late Betty (Cordray) and Clyde B. Halbert. He was a chemical worker for Texas U.S. Chemical in Pt. Neches. Survivors, son James Troy Halbert, Sr. and wife Lydia of Pt. Arthur, grandchildren, Karla LIEF and husband Richard of Beaumont, James Troy Halbert Jr and wife Cheryl of Magnolia, and Wayne Halbert and wife Lori and Todd Halbert and wife Dee Anna, all of Groves; a brother Audry Halbert of Milam; sisters, Syble RUSSELL and Mary LOVE, both of Houston, Mildred FREEMAN of Orange, and Betty RHODEN of Victoria, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Fred Raney officiating. Interment followed at the Hemphill City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill.

    Wreck Claims life of Milam Man

    "A one car collision resulted inthe death of a Milam man around noon Tuesday. According to a witness at the scene, she was driving by and saw a Ford Pick-up truck that had smashd into a tree and was smoking. She got out of her car to check on the driver and could not open the door. As she looked over she saw the body of 84-year old Audra Halbert about 10 feet from the vehicle, she then called for help."

    Audra B. Halbert

    Audra B. Halbert, 85, of Milam died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. He was born April 21, 1924 in Milam.

    Halbert had lived in Milam 20 years after previously living in Ranger.

    He was a teacher at Ranger Junior College and was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army. Halbert was a member of the American Legion, Sons of the Republic of Texas, and Gideons International. He was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church.

    Survivors: son, Robert C. Halbert and wife Wila of Cedar Park; daughters, Janet Coffey and husband Donald of Arlington and Mary E. Pennington and husband, Sever of Weatherford; sisters, Syble Russell and Mary Love, both of Houston, and Betty Rhoden of Victoria; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 22 at Starr Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Jones officiating. Interment was at Joel Halbert Cemetery in Milam. Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.

    Clyde Burnett Maxey, 78, passed away suddenly on April 20, 2021 in Hemphill, Texas.

    Born in Galveston, Texas to Robert Valery Maxey and Signa Lee Halbert Maxey, Clyde was a lifelong resident of East Texas, growing up in Milam, Texas.

    He graduated from Hemphill High School in 1960 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University until he was drafted, whereupon he served for six years as a member of the 2nd Armored Division in the US Army. Spending the majority of his adulthood in Diboll, Texas, Clyde retired from Temple Eastex after a 41 year career in sales. He served his community as an active member of Diboll First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, a member of the Diboll Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years, and as a city alderman. Clyde was a member of the Angelina County Airport Breakfast Club (Lufkin) and the Martin's Corner Motley Crew (Milam).

    Clyde was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He found happiness when sitting in the quiet of a still morning in the woods and could often be found "just piddlin'" in his woodshop, but his greatest joy came when spending time with his family, traveling with Linda, and laughing with his grandchildren.

    He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Linda Carol Love Maxey of Houston, Texas and currently residing in Milam, Texas; daughter Tabitha and husband, Curtis Hippler of West, Texas; daughter Tracey and husband, Jim Cox of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren Cullen Hippler and wife, Kay, Keaton Hippler, Kelsey Cox and Gavin Cox.

    Memorial donations may be made to Diboll First United Methodist Church, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

    A man of strong Christian faith, we celebrate with him as he now sits with our Lord in his eternal home.

    Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Rev. Becky Love officiating.

    Visitation will begin one hour prior to services.

    Burial will follow services in Milam Cemetery in Milam, Texas with Gavin Cox, Cullen Hippler, Keaton Hippler, Charlie Harris, Robbie Hudspeth, Jim Jones, Mackie McCary and Al Naylor.
