    Obituary

Mary Pauline Easley (Polly) Rhame passed away of natural causes at Highland Village, Texas on February 9, 2013 at the age of 89.

Polly was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Joseph (Joe) Gerold Rhame, her parents Gay and Myrtle Easley, and an older sister, Julie Othell Solly. She is survived by a brother, Wilbern Easley of Nacogdoches, Texas. Polly will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, SanDee Rhame Thompson of Highland Village, Sherra Rhame Van Trease and husband Garry of Highland Village, and Diane Rhame Thompson and husband Marvin of Palestine, Texas. She had nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, as well as many, many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

Polly was born in Yellowpine, Texas on September 21, 1923. She graduated Hemphill High School in 1941, one year after her marriage (Joe signed her report card her senior year). They spent their early years in Houston and Deer Park, Texas, where Polly was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Deer Park, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She had several part time jobs, but always found time for her favorite hobbies, such as keeping an immaculate yard and growing beautiful flowers (She and Joe won "Yard of the Month" many times).

Other activities involved sewing, crocheting, needle point, and she was a prolific quilter. Her retirement years were spent in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she and her husband were also active in the First Baptist Church. She and Joe moved to Highland Village in 2000 and they became members of the First Baptist Church of Flower Mound. Polly was a fabulous cook and her made-from-scratch biscuits were renowned. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her as "Granna" and "Great Granna," and she treasured each one, as they did her. A celebration of Polly's life will be held at the church of her childhood, Macedonia Baptist Church in Yellowpine, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Nephew-in-law Dr. James Warner will conduct Polly's funeral service and interment beside her husband will be at nearby Yellowpine Cemetery.
