John W. Clark shows her as a daughter of Henry C. Melton. Kay Parker McCary, in her annotated transcription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery lists the same father, and in addtion shows her mother as Mary Jane Reynolds. She further indicated Alice shared a double marker with Infant Daughter Clark. Only one date is shown for her daughter, that of 1 Dec 1930. There is not a listing for burial information for Jefferson Harmon Clark on the transcription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Jefferson (son of Jefferson Elias Clark and Alice Leona Chandler) was born on 3 Dec 1899 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 28 Sep 1978 in Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas; was buried in Hancock Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Texas. James was the son of Jefferson Harmon Clark and Alice Mae Melton. His mother died when he was six and his father remarried Bootie T. Hancock. Who was his mother till she passed. James married Peggy Joan Layne and had Kim Clark and Kaye Clark. James has two grandchildren - Erica McMahill and Cameron McMahill

James married Peggy Joan Lane on 3 Sep 1954 in Jefferson County, Texas. Peggy was born on 6 Sep 1931 in Alabama; died on 17 Jul 2017; was buried in Hancock Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
