On the memorial page of her mother, Vera McDaniel Smith, it was further noted that Vera raised her seven granchildren after the daughters death, and that her "faith and strength were an inspiration to her grandchildren. "

    Danny Lee Moody, 67, died Friday afternoon in his home after a brief battle with cancer. Danny was born in Beaumont, TX, to Denton and Adalene Smith Moody. After the death of his mother, Danny was raised by his grandparents Carl V. and Vera Smith. Danny has lived in Sabine County all his life and was a well known and respected carpenter in the county. He spent a number of years building and maintaining Fin and Feather Resort for George Pickett. Danny was a member of the Church of God.

    Danny is survived by his wife Opal Moody of Hemphill; his son Brad Moody of Hemphill, two grandchildren; Zachary Chad McGee-Moody and Ethan Allen Moody of Hemphill; three sisters, Patricia Moody Cordray and her husband John of Carthage, Lanell Moody Hardy and her husband Marlin of Center, and Sue Moody Loper of Huntington. He is also survived by three brothers; Rev. Charles Moody and his wife Linda of Hemphill, Larry Moody and his wife Dana of Hemphill and Gary "Chuck" Moody of Geneva. Also surviving is one Uncle Delton Moody and his wife Jean of Cut and Shoot, TX, and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends including a special friend Tamara. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and infant sister Katherine Moody.

    Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM, Sunday, February 5, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St, Hemphill, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Monday, February 6, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Yellowpine Cemetery, Yellowpine, Texas.

    Larry Gene Moody, 63, of Six Mile, Texas passed from this life to his eternal home on Sunday, December 30, at Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill, Texas.

    He was born November 27, 1955 to the late Denton and Adalene Smith Moody. Larry received his education from Hemphill ISD and spent his life working in general construction work, operating bulldozers, drag lines and other types of heavy equipment. He was also a member of the Littleton- Fowler Masonic Lodge No. 305. He loved living on Toledo Bend, fishing and hunting in his spare time. However, his greatest loves were his wife, children and grandchildren. His eyes would shine as he spoke lovingly of them and what they meant to him.

    Due to health reasons, Larry did not attend church regularly, but he often testified to his family that he was a believer and a recipient of GOD'S amazing grace.

    Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 22 years, Dana Moody, of Six Mile Community; daughters, Alisa Usher and husband, Doug, of Cleveland, Texas, Heather Snow and husband, James and Kristy LeAnn Moody, all of Six Mile Community; brothers, Charles Moody and wife, Linda, of Hemphill, Texas; sisters, Patricia Moody Cordray of Carthage, Texas, LaNell Moody Hardy and husband, Marlin, of Center, Texas, and Sue Loper of Longview, Texas; and grandchildren, Jaicee' Harrison, Autumn Snow, Kamden Snow, Aubre'Ann Moody, and Emersyn Kate Ferguson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Adalene Smith Moody; father, Denton Moody; baby sister, Katherine Moody; two brothers, Danny Lee Moody and Gary Steven (Chuck) Moody; and brother-in-law, John Wesley Cordray.

    Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Moody officiating.

    Burial will follow services in Fairmount Cemetery, Hemphill, Texas.

    Serving as pallbearers are James Snow, Josh Moody, R. J. Hester, Jay Bellett, Heather Snow, and Chase Bellett.

    Notes:

    Gary Steven Moody, better known as "Chuck," passed from this life in his home in Geneva, Texas on June 7th, 2017, at the age of 58. He was born in Hemphill, Texas on January 24th, 1959 to Denton David Moody and Adalene Smith Moody. Chuck was the youngest of seven children, and was raised in Hemphill, Texas by his grandparents Carl Vinson and Vera Smith.

    When Chuck was not excelling in his carpentry business, he was enjoying time with family and friends; most of this time being spent in the outdoors of Sabine County and Toledo Bend as an avid hunter and fisherman.

    Chuck had an easy warmth about him, and could win you over with his funny stories and charming smile. He loved to make people laugh, but especially enjoyed spending time with his three granddaughters.

    He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Malinowski, his parents, Adalene and Denton Moody, brother, Danny Moody, and his grandparents, Carl V. and Vera Smith.

    Chuck is survived by his son, Josh Moody and wife, Heather, of Geneva, Texas, daughter Sherrie Moody Birchell and husband, Michael of Lufkin, Texas, and daughter Rebecca Moody Bullock and fianc?, Kenith Windham of Geneva, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Charles Moody and wife, Linda of Hemphill, Texas, brother Larry Moody and wife, Dana, of Six Mile, Texas, sister Patricia Cordray of Carthage, Texas, sister Lanell Hardy and husband, Marlin of Center, Texas, sister Sue Loper of Longview, Texas, his three granddaughters; Addison Leigh Bullock, Sayree Ryann Bullock, and Brinley Renea Moody, and a host of family and friends.

    Cremation is under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas. Memorial services in honor of Chuck Moody will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 17th, 2017 at Strickland Crossing Church of God in Pineland, Texas.
