The World War I draft registration cards shown he was born January 1, 1898, and was a student living in Schenectady when he registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, his nearest relative was his mother, Rose Getz, living with him at 842 Lincoln in Schenectady. Leon died in November 1983 in Miami, Florida

    She can be found on the 1930 Federal Census in Schenectady, New York, and shown as 9 months old (census enumeration date was April 18, 1930, making her born around July or August 1929). On this census, she was listed as a daughter of Leon Getz, age 32, born in Russia of Russian parents, mother tongue listed as Jewish, year of emigration ca 1887, and shown as a proprietor of a meat market. His wife was 30 year old Hattie F Getz, was born in New York, as was her father, with a mother born in Austria. Arlene was the only child present in the home. Also listed was a 21 year old single lodger, Minnie Millier, born in New York, working as a maid. with both of Minnie's parents born in Germany.
