Notes on the memorial pages for the family indicate: John Emory Stevenson who came from Louisianaa to Texas and married Mildred M.     In 1870, he was living in Kaufman County, Texas, next door to his older brother John. He was listed as a farmer, married to a Jane, age 25, and they shared their home with their children, Rose and William, and also with a 14 year old domestic servant, names Mary Stevenson, who was black and likely born into slavery.

    His headstone, viewable on FindAGrave, is engraved J. D. Stevenson, with his dates, and his wife's name, Jane Fisher 13 Nov 1843 - 10 Mar 1916. The are linked to memorial pages for five children, William E, Harry F, Ruth Esther Stevenson Patton, Clinton, and James Porter.
