    Charles married Mary Hannah Kolb on 16 Oct 1875 in Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan. Mary (daughter of George Anthony Kolb and Maria Catharina Benkelman) was born on 16 Aug 1855 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; died on 27 Jan 1926 in Caro, Tuscola County, Michigan.     Notes:

    According to the Decree of District Court, Denver, Colorado, Dated September 2, 1931, showing the proportion of Mary Schwegler's Interest Distributable to Each, the only heir of Mrs. Mary Buerk was Archibald Gilchrist. In Art Peck's THE TEN BENKELMANS WHO EMIGRATED TO AMERICA CIRCA 1850s, it is noted that Archibald was raised by Fred and Mary Kolb. No further details are given. A 12 year old "Archie Buerk" was shown as a boarder in the home of Charles and Mary Buerk at the time of the 1900 census. Archie Gilchrist was also shown as the petitioner in regards to the probate of the Estate of Mary Buerk, deceased, in February 1929.
