His younger half-sister, Kate Allen Tirado, writes that he died of complications of pneumonia, compounded by his doctors accidentially poisoning him. She wrote "he was a beautiful young man and so good and true, he died singing "Jesus Lover of My Soul, Let Me to Thy Bosom Fly." Before dying, he regained consciousnes and told his father and loved ones to meet him in Heavan.
