    Graveside services will be held Monday, April 25, 10 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, for James Melton Fuller, who died following a brief struggle with cancer. Pastor John May will officiate.

    Jim was born in Hemphill, Texas, April 29, 1936, to J.E. and Rubye Fuller. In the mid- 1940s his family moved to Tyler, Texas, where he lived until 1954 when he left to attend the University of Texas in Austin to major in geology.

    Jim served his country proudly in the Texas National Guard, 49th Armored Division, in Fort Hood, Texas.

    Jim married his wife, Mary, in 1958 and in 1961 they moved to Bakersfield, where he had accepted a position with Mobil Oil Company.

    In 1968, Jim formed his own company, Fuller Oil Company, where he at one time employed 70 people. The company continued to operate until his death.

    Jim enjoyed watching Fox News and followed the stock market religiously. He also enjoyed having lunch with his friends at Wool Growers and Rice Bowl. He was a long-standing member of the Bakersfield Association of Petroleum Landmen, having served as AAPL director representing Region VIII and was also a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. Jims hobbies were coin and stamp collecting.

    Jim was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, James Michael. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary; two sons, Michael Wayne and Derek James; two grandchildren, Laura and Patrick Fuller, all of Bakersfield; and sister, Fran Fuller of Fort Worth, Texas.
