    Notes:

    Henry Louis Morgan was born on December 3, 1881, the fourth child and third son of a family of six boys and one girl. His father was Malachi L. Morgan (b. March 24, 1852-d. June 11, 1906), who was born, lived, died, and is buried in East Texas. His mother was Mary West Morgan (b. December 27, 1854-d. July 22, 1905), who, like her husband, was born and lived out her life in East Texas.

    After enjoying some twenty years of retirement, Henry Louis Morgan died in 1966, at age 84, and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont. Maggie Morgan passed away on May 9, 1984, at age 93, and is buried beside her husband. They are still fondly recalled and sorely missed by their five children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of friends whose lives they touched.

    Daphna L. Morgan, the oldest daughter, was born in Call, Texas, and moved to Nederland with her parents in 1923. She graduated from Nederland High School in 1930, and in 1932, she married E. J. Woods of Beaumont. They became the parents of two daughters and now have six grandchildren and nine great grandchildlren. They are retired and live at Dam B.

    Daphna Louis Woods,90,of Houston,died Saturday,January 3, 2004 at Golden Age Manor in Houston.She was born April 22,1913 in Magnolia Springs,and was a resident of Beaumont most of her life.Funeral services will be Monday,January 5,2004, at 2:30 p.m. at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin,Beaumont,followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.Visitation is scheduled for Monday, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the morutary.Survivors include her daughters,Linda Byrd of Houston and Jackie Sue Mott of Ponca City,Oklahoma;sisters,Emogene Anderson of Port Neches,Seawillow Carrell of Beaumont,Melba Hawkins of Nederland;brother,Maurice Morgan of Nederland;six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

    Notes:

    Melba A. Morgan, the second daughter, was born in Magnolia Springs, Texas, moved to Nederland with her parents, and graduated from Nederland High School in 1935. She worked for Bedford F. Pace, M. D., and Burnett H. Hall, D. D. S., between 1940 and 1945. She married Raymond Hawkins, also of Nederland, on March 4, 1945, and since their marriage, they have continued to make their home in Nederland. They are the parents of two sons and two grandsons. Melba Morgan Hawkins still has fond recollections of going to the old J. H. McNeill grocery at 1154 Boston Avenue with her father to pay the grocery bill on payday, and of receiving a generous bag of candy as a gift, or lagniappe as the French would call it.

    Melba Morgan Hawkins, 89, of Nederland passed away on Monday, January 28, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2008 in the chapel of Broussard's in Nederland. Interment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 1:00pm to service time at the mortuary. Mrs. Hawkins was a native of Magnolia Springs,TX and lived in Nederland for over 80 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Raymond R. Hawkins, son, Kerry Dee Hawkins, and sister, Daphna Woods. Melba was a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland since 1929, and graduated from Nederland High School, Class of 1935. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her son, Morgan Lynn Hawkins and wife Judy of Nederland; grandsons, Chris Hawkins and wife Jamie of The Woodlands; R.J. Hawkins and wife Carrie of Lufkin; sisters,Seawillow Carrell of Beaumont, Emogene Anderson of Port Neches;brother, Maurice Morgan and wife Faye of Nederland; and a host of other relatives and friends.The family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.

    Kerry Dee Hawkins, 54, of Nederland passed away, Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his residence.
    Mr. Hawkins was a native of Beaumont, a lifelong resident of Nederland, and was self employed. Kerry had a grand talent for playing the guitar and singing, which his friends truly enjoyed over the years.

    Mr. Hawkins is survived by his son, R.J. Hawkins of Lufkin, mother, Melba Hawkins of Nederland, brother, Lynn Hawkins and wife Judy of Nederland, nephew, Chris Hawkins and wife Jamie of The Woodlands, and his very special and devoted friends, Charlie and Susan Streetman of Nederland.
    The family will honor Kerry's wishes to be cremated. A private family memorial will be scheduled at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 2350 IH 10 E., Beaumont, TX 77703.
