Florence Maxine (Due) Hall was born on a farm between Exeter and Cordova, Nebraska, on June 7, 1923, to John and Laura (Thomsen) Due. She passed away on January 17, 2015, at the Exeter Care Center at the age of 91. Florence was the youngest of three daughters.

Florence was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After attending rural School District 24 in Fillmore County, she graduated from Exeter High School in 1940. Florence attended Bonnett Beauty School in Hastings, receiving her cosmetology license in 1941. During World War II, Florence was employed at the Mead Ordnance Plant and Fairmont Air Base.

On November 27, 1944, she married Howard H. Hall in Jacksonville, Florida, while Howard was enlisted in the Naval Air Corps. Born to this union were sons, Kent and Dennis, and daughter, Sylvia. For many years, Howard and Florence farmed near Exeter until purchasing a McDonald's restaurant franchise in 1974 in Norfolk. They also owned stores in Columbus, York, and O'Neill. They lived in Norfolk and Columbus for several years. After Howard's death in 1987, Florence returned to Exeter.

Florence was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 218 in Exeter. She enjoyed cooking and her potato salad, cream puffs, meatballs with alphabet soup, and green kale were family favorites. Florence enjoyed being with her grandsons and great-grandchildren and attending their activities.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; son, Kent; and two sisters, Merna, who died in infancy, and LaVerna Hassler. Left to cherish wonderful memories are children and spouses, Dennis and Cheryl Hall of Columbus, Sylvia and Barry Murphy of Exeter, and Phyllis Hall of Norfolk; five grandsons, Kevin (Gina) Hall, Greg (Kristel) Hall, Cory (Karri) Hall, Brian (Angie) Murphy, and Dustin (Karissa) Murphy; and twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Emily, Alex, Hunter, Dillon, and Jenna Hall and Patrick, Caitlin, Alice, Logan, and Clara Murphy. Florence is also survived by sister-in-laws Ann Hall, Louise Hall, and Lucille Hall and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
